Biblical Meditation: How to meditate to the Word of God

The difference between Biblical meditation and Eastern meditation lies primarily in their focus and methods.

Eastern Meditation

Eastern meditation, common in various religious and New Age practices, often emphasizes emptying the mind, reaching a state of inner stillness, or aligning oneself with a universal consciousness. Techniques might include chanting mantras, practicing yoga postures, or seeking a detachment from worldly concerns.

Biblical Meditation

Biblical meditation, on the other hand, focuses on filling the mind with Scripture, reflecting on God’s words, and deepening a relationship with Him.

Rather than emptying the mind, it involves purposeful engagement with the teachings of the Bible, using meditation as a means of understanding, remembering, and applying God’s principles.

So, when the Bible speaks of meditation, it emphasizes thoughtful, intentional contemplation on God’s character and guidance.
